five things - my week at a glance

…because I did it

It is hard to imagine that just a handful of months ago I began writing a book. While the task has been on my bucket list no less than forever it never seemed like a dream to see it come to light.  Now that I have finished my rough draft I feel a great sense of both relief and happiness knowing that I have accomplished my goal. I hope that I will have the vision and insight to tackle the process from a different view point one day.

…because this stuff matters

I have always been a person who writes things down. About a million years ago I wanted to be a writer. I even wrote for my college newspaper and had several things published over the years, but noting what is important and meaningful in our daily lives matters just as much as any article on hot news. I want to look back one day and know that I made a record of the moments that make up my simple but oh so happy daily life.

…because I love color

Sometimes I love mixing things up a little bit by working on a big canvas and playing with lots of color. I am a paper person mostly- working in journals makes me really happy, but adding color to a canvas and exploring my love of layers and mark making on a grander scale ignites a whole different kind of inspiration. There is something freeing about anything goes on a canvas because you can always cover it up!

…because I had the day

I was so so lucky to be able to head out to Utah this past week and in doing so I was able to let my best friend aka hubby tag along. He and I had a full day and a half to explore and found ourselves in Park City one day. I had been to this little town on a previous adventure but was super happy to finally share the quaint, village like experience with my better half. The view, the food, the ducking in and out of shops and museums  were best shared with him.

…because I love this stuff

I had so much fun at the NAMTA trade show working as a guest designer in the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Booth. While just as exciting as Creativation, this show has a different atmosphere and I was lucky enough to meet another wonderful group of artists, vendors and store owners. Demonstrating how to create colorful mark filled art never grows weary and I was happy to be a part of such a busy fun filled three days.
